We live in the world of stories - each one of us is a bountiful collection of tales - short stories, long ones, with happy endings and not. More so, everything around us tells a story - even our dreams. I am a storyteller - whether on virtual canvas or on printed page - I tell a story. I have never studied art in a formal setting, but growing up in the capital of Russia I have always had a fascination with this amazing world of imagination, wandering from museum to museum, and reading in quiet corners of Moscow's parks.
By the way of my life I have encountered a marvel of our age - computers - and there began the journey of creation. My art is made up of sketches, pieces of photographs, digital brushstrokes, long forgotten letters, and symbols of past and present - that, which surrounds us everyday - captured, digitized and then stirred until the image was the same as the one in my mind. I make them into my own personal story that tells of emotions that overfill me, my constant infatuation with life and the world around me.
Colors, shapes, sometimes vivid and sometimes translucent images - that which makes up our dreams. Imagination lives in our dreams, entwined with emotions, running quietly in the background of our own life, surfacing from time to time to remind us that there are multiple reflections of our reality within us. Inner struggles, outer conflicts - these vibrant battles are fought with love and hate, with such passion for existence, that paint is splashed all over leaving imprints which you see on my pictures. Questions that have been asked time and time again, answers repeated - understood and not, real events and fairy tales, deepest canyons of depression and highest peaks of joy and all that lies in between - that is what you see before you. While none of these images were ever painted on paper or canvas, while for years their domain was virtual - bit by bit stored in magnetic vastness of a computer hard drive, coming to life only as photons emitted from a monitor - they are in fact real. All the dreams fit in a square box - on screen or on canvas - with a single purpose to outpour passion for experience into the world that gave them birth.
And as any storyteller, I am pleased to see an audience - those watching, listening, and making the story alive in their minds.
Thank you for letting me tell you my stories.
